Why panels turn red
A red panel is out of place — it sits in a fire setback or pathway, on an obstacle, over the edge of the face, or it was laid out for another panel size. Red panels still count in the calculation, so move them or press Remove red panels.
The editor lets you put a panel anywhere on a face — where it goes is your call — but marks the ones that break the layout rules in red.
| What you see | What to do |
|---|---|
| Out of place — drag it off the fire setback, obstacle or edge | Shown for a selected red panel. Drag it into free space, or delete it. To delete every red panel at once, press Remove red panels under the panel count; ⌘Z brings them back. |
| The panel changed to … | The panel model was changed after the roof was filled, and the red panels are the old size. Press Re-lay out — see Change the panel after the roof is laid out. |
Why a panel turns red
- In a fire setback or pathway — inside the red hatching along an edge. See Fire setbacks on the roof.
- On an obstacle — over a chimney, vent or skylight, or closer to it than the obstacle clearance.
- Over the edge — part of the panel hangs off its face.
- The wrong size — it was placed for another panel model.
Red panels and the calculation
A red panel is still counted in the system size and production. Fix or delete red panels before you calculate and make the proposal — the plan reviewer won’t accept them.
Panels that don’t count at all are a different case: a panel off every face, on a face without a pitch, or on top of another panel. The calculator warns about those.
