Privacy Policy
Cali-Graf (cali-graf.com) is a free solar design and proposal tool for solar installers, sales reps and contractors. It’s run by Cali Energy, Inc. (“Cali Energy”, “we”, “us”). This policy explains what Cali-Graf collects, how we use it, who we share it with and the choices you have. It works together with our Terms of Service.
- We collect what Cali-Graf needs to work: your Google account basics and the calculations you create.
- We don’t sell personal information, don’t show ads and don’t use advertising or analytics trackers.
- Your calculations and your customers’ details are private to your account. Cali Energy never uses them to sell its own installations.
- You can delete your account and everything in it at any time in Settings.
Information we collect
Your account
When you sign in with Google, Google shares your name, email address, profile photo and a permanent account ID with us. That’s all we receive from Google — no password, contacts, files or other Google data. We also save your settings: the defaults for new calculations, the business card printed on your proposals and where you are in the tutorial.
What you enter
For each calculation: the property address and its location on the map, the utility and rate, electricity usage (bills, annual kWh or a Green Button file), the roof design, equipment, price and financing, and the proposals you create. If you choose to, also your customer’s name, phone and email. When you upload a Green Button file, we read it and keep the usage numbers with the calculation; the file itself isn’t stored.
Collected automatically
- Sign-in cookie. One cookie keeps you signed in, plus a short-lived one while you sign in. We store only a fingerprint (hash) of it, and it expires 30 days after your last visit. Cali-Graf uses no other cookies.
- Server logs. For each request: the time, the page or API path (without addresses or coordinates), the result, your account ID and your IP address with its last part removed. We use logs to fix errors and stop abuse.
- Calculation history. What changed in a calculation and when — so you can see and restore earlier versions of a roof.
- Tutorial statistics. Which tutorial step was shown, completed or skipped, and whether on a phone or a computer. These aren’t linked to you or to your calculations.
- When you delete your account, we keep the reason you give, how many calculations you had and how long the account existed — without your name, email or any ID.
How we use information
- to run Cali-Graf: find the roof, estimate production, bills and savings, build proposals and keep your work saved;
- to keep it secure and fair: sign-in, usage limits and preventing abuse;
- to fix problems and improve the accuracy of our models, using combined results rather than any one customer’s details;
- to contact you about your account or important changes to Cali-Graf.
We don’t sell or rent personal information, don’t share it for advertising and don’t use it to build profiles.
Your calculations stay yours
Cali-Graf is used by companies that may compete with Cali Energy. Your calculations and your customers’ details are visible only in your account. Cali Energy never uses them to market its own solar or roofing services and never contacts your customers. The people who run Cali-Graf look at your data only when you ask us for help, to investigate a security or technical problem, or when the law requires it.
Who we share information with
Each service gets only what it needs to do its job:
- Google — Sign in with Google, and Google Maps Platform: address lookup, map imagery and the Solar API (roof shape and shade). The property address and location go to Google, which handles them under the Google Privacy Policy. Fonts are also loaded from Google.
- Google Cloud — hosts Cali-Graf: the program, its database and stored files run on Google Cloud servers in the United States.
- Cloudflare — delivers and protects the site; all traffic passes through its network.
- Weather and terrain services — the NSRDB weather service of the U.S. Department of Energy receives the approximate center of the property’s ZIP code; PVGIS (European Commission Joint Research Centre) receives the property location rounded to about 100 meters, to measure hills on the horizon. Neither receives an address or a name.
- When the law requires it — to respond to a valid legal request, or to protect the rights and safety of our users and the public.
- If Cali-Graf changes hands — in a merger or sale, information may move to the new owner, and this policy keeps applying to it.
Cali-Graf’s use of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy.
Your customers’ information
When you enter a homeowner’s address, usage or contact details, you decide what to enter and why. We process it on your behalf and only to provide Cali-Graf to you — under the California Consumer Privacy Act, we act as your service provider. You’re responsible for having the right to share it with us. If a homeowner contacts us about their information, we’ll refer them to you and help you respond.
How long we keep information
- Your account and calculations — until you delete them.
- Trash — calculations you move to Trash are deleted for good after 30 days.
- Deleting your account — takes effect right away: the account, every calculation (including Trash), roof history, proposals and customer details are deleted together.
- Google Maps data (roof shape, imagery and shade) — kept no longer than 30 days, as Google’s terms require.
- Server logs and backups — up to 90 days.
Security
Cali-Graf works only over HTTPS. There are no passwords — Google confirms who you are — and sign-in keys are stored only as fingerprints. Every request is checked against the owner of the calculation, and only a few people can access the servers. No system is perfectly secure; if a breach affects your information, we’ll notify you as the law requires.
Your choices and rights
- See and edit your calculations at any time in Cali-Graf.
- Delete a calculation, or your whole account: Settings → Delete your account.
- Get a copy of your data: email us and we’ll send it as a file (JSON).
California residents have the right to know what personal information we collect, use and disclose; to delete it; to correct it; and to opt out of its sale or sharing. We don’t sell personal information or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. To make a request, email us from the address on your Cali-Graf account so we can confirm it’s you. We won’t treat you differently for using these rights.
Children
Cali-Graf is a business tool for adults. It isn’t meant for anyone under 18, and we don’t knowingly collect information from children.
Where information is stored
In the United States.
Changes to this policy
We’ll post any change here with a new effective date. If a change materially affects how we use your information, we’ll tell you in Cali-Graf or by email before it takes effect.
