Move, rotate and delete panels
With Panels or Select, click a panel to select it, drag to move it, and use the arrow keys to nudge it 2 inches. Turn 90° switches portrait and landscape, the round handle turns it freely, and Delete removes it. Shift+click selects several.
After Fill roof, most layouts need a few touches: one panel more in a gap, a row moved off a vent, a panel turned to fit.
Add a panel
Pick Panels
Press Panels or N.
Click a free spot on a face
The outline under the cursor shows where the panel will go, or why it won’t fit. The new panel is selected right away, so you can turn or delete it.
Select and move
- Select — click a panel; Shift+click adds more; ⌘A selects all panels.
- Move — drag the selection, or nudge it with the arrow keys: 2″ a press, 1 ft with Shift.
- Deselect — Esc.
Turn and align
- Turn 90° (R) or R switches portrait and landscape.
- The round handle next to the selection turns it freely; hold Shift to turn by 15°.
- Angle to the roof on the right sets an exact angle in degrees; Align puts the panels square with the face again.
Delete
Press Delete, the bin next to the selection or Delete panel on the right. ⌘Z brings them back.
When a move is refused
| What you see | What to do |
|---|---|
| Panels must stay on a roof face | The panel’s center would leave the roof. Keep it on a face. |
| There is already a panel there | Panels can’t overlap. Move the other one first. |
| No room for a panel here · … | The new panel would hit a setback, an obstacle, another panel or the edge. |
| Cannot turn here · … | Turned, the panel wouldn’t fit. Move it to more room first. |
You can still drag a panel into a setback or over an obstacle on purpose — it turns red as a reminder. See Why panels turn red.
