Supported utilities and areas
Cali-Graf calculates bills for homes served by LADWP and SCE, including SCE customers of Clean Power Alliance. Homes on Glendale, Burbank, Pasadena and other city utilities can be designed, but their bills can’t be calculated yet.
The roof editor works on any home with Google aerial imagery. The bill calculation needs the utility’s rates and net metering rules, and Cali-Graf has them for two utilities.
Utilities Cali-Graf calculates
| Utility | Who it covers | What Cali-Graf uses |
|---|---|---|
| LADWP | Homes in the City of Los Angeles | The standard residential rate, the home’s rate zone, bills every 2 months and LADWP net metering |
| SCE | Most of Los Angeles County outside the city, and nearby SCE cities | The customer’s rate plan (TOU-D-4-9PM, TOU-D-5-8PM, TOU-D-PRIME or Domestic), the CARE discount, the baseline region, monthly bills and the Net Billing Tariff (NEM 3.0) |
| SCE with Clean Power Alliance | SCE homes in cities that buy power from Clean Power Alliance (CPA) | Same as SCE, plus the CPA generation rates for the city’s default plan |
How Cali-Graf knows the utility
When you press Find, Cali-Graf places the home on the utilities’ official service-area maps and checks the ZIP code and city. The result shows in the line under the address — for example LADWP · Zone 1 or SCE · SCE generation · Baseline region 9; for Clean Power Alliance homes it shows CPA and the city’s plan instead of SCE generation. Clean Power Alliance and the baseline region come from the city.
Check that line against the customer’s bill. Near utility borders a ZIP code can be split between LADWP and SCE, so a home on the edge is worth a second look.
Homes on other utilities
Glendale (GWP), Burbank (BWP), Pasadena (PWP), Vernon, Anaheim and other city-owned utilities aren’t covered yet, and neither are SDG&E and PG&E. For these homes the line under the address turns red:
| What you see | What to do |
|---|---|
| tariff not supported yet (LADWP and SCE only) | You can still trace the roof, place panels and see the system size, but Calculate won’t run and there’s no PDF. |
Type of home
Cali-Graf is built for single-family homes with panels on the roof — including a garage or ADU on the same lot. Commercial buildings, ground-mounted arrays and additions to an existing solar system aren’t supported yet — see What Cali-Graf doesn’t do yet.
