Why the calculator asks you to recalculate
A result belongs to the inputs it was calculated from. Change the roof, the usage, the equipment, shade analysis or the rate increase — or let the utility rates update — and the calculator marks the result as out of date until you press Calculate again.
The proposal must match what you see, so Cali-Graf never mixes an old result with new inputs.
| What you see | What to do |
|---|---|
| Inputs changed — recalculate | You changed something after calculating. Press Calculate — the button may read Recalculate. |
| Rates updated — recalculate | The utility’s rates or Cali-Graf’s calculation were updated after this result. Press Calculate to use the current ones. |
| Inputs changed after the calculation — calculate again. | You pressed Save PDF with an out-of-date result. Calculate, then make the PDF. |
Why the first calculation of a house takes longer
Calculating… the first run for a new house downloads Google shade data (~20–30 s) — Cali-Graf fetches the 3D shade data around the home once. Later calculations of the same house take a few seconds.
What doesn’t need a recalculation
The price, the payment, the customer name and your business card don’t change the energy and bill calculation. The price and payback tiles update on their own, and the rest only goes on the PDF.
