Tesla Powerwall 3 and other hybrid inverters
Powerwall 3 is a battery with a solar inverter inside — the panels connect straight to it. Pick Powerwall 3 both in Inverter and in Battery; the number of units in Battery is also the number of inverters taking solar.
With most systems the inverter and the battery are separate boxes. A hybrid like Powerwall 3 is both at once, so Cali-Graf needs to know about it in two places.
Set up Powerwall 3
Pick it as the battery
In Battery, choose Powerwall 3 and set Units.
Pick it as the inverter
In Inverter, choose Powerwall 3. The line under the title then says how many units take the solar — the number of Powerwall 3 units in Battery.
| What you see | What to do |
|---|---|
| Powerwall 3 is the battery unit itself — choose Powerwall 3 in Battery | You picked Powerwall 3 as the inverter but no Powerwall 3 battery. Choose it in Battery. |
Other hybrid and string inverters
For any inverter that isn’t a microinverter, type how many units the panels feed in Inverters taking solar input. The calculation models that many inverters sharing the panels — their combined power limit decides how much is clipped at the sunniest hours.
Powerwall 3 with microinverters
Powerwall 3 can also sit next to microinverters, taking solar through the home’s AC wiring. Then pick the microinverter in Inverter and Powerwall 3 only in Battery — the compatibility check tells you if the pair works.
