Federal tax credit

The 30% federal Residential Clean Energy Credit (25D) isn’t available for systems placed in service after December 31, 2025. Cali-Graf doesn’t subtract any federal tax credit from the price, the payback or the savings.

For years, a homeowner who bought solar got 30% of the cost back as a federal tax credit, and many proposals showed a “net cost” after it. That changed at the start of 2026.

What changed

The IRS states that the Residential Clean Energy Credit covers property installed from 2022 through December 31, 2025, and isn’t available for any property placed in service after that date. Source: IRS — Residential Clean Energy Credit.

What Cali-Graf does

  • The price, the payback and the 25-year savings are calculated without a federal tax credit.
  • The proposal doesn’t mention one, so the customer isn’t promised money they can’t get.
  • Other rebates aren’t added either — see What Cali-Graf doesn’t do yet.

Talking to the customer

Customers often heard about the 30% credit from friends who went solar earlier. Explain that it ended for systems installed after 2025, and that the numbers in the proposal already reflect that. They should confirm their own tax situation with a tax professional.
